Student Representative Council |
Student Representative Council (SRC)
Each year a Student Representative Council (SRC) is elected from students at Oatley Public School. Each class elects two members to the SRC. Members of the SRC are responsible for feeding back information to their respective classes K to 6.
From the selected class members an Executive Committee is then formed. The SRC Executive Committee comprises a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. A nominated teacher facilitates the overall operation of the SRC.
The SRC is responsible for the organisation of whole school assemblies, representing the student body, fundraising for particular charities and providing a model of leadership, behaviour and responsibility for all students in the school. The SRC is invited and encouraged to have input into the School Council and other school matters where appropriate.
Peer Support
In Peer Support, leaders and co-leaders from Years 5 and 6 conduct sessions on self-esteem, teamwork and they implement lessons to small groups of students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The program operates during Term 2 of each year.
School Houses
In Kindergarten, each student is allocated to one of four school houses. These are Hunter (Blue), Murray (Red), Lachlan (Green) and Macquarie (Yellow). Students remain in their respective Houses throughout their school life at Oatley.
Each year, two year 6 boys and girls are elected as House Captains and House Vice Captains by students from their House. The House Captains and Vice-Captains are responsible for the organisation of school sports, athletics, cross country and swimming days. They also report the results of weekly sports events at school assemblies.
Houses are awarded points for participation in various school activities and sports days. The House with most points at the end of the year wins a prestigious trophy presented on presentation day.
